- Open Windows Explorer
- Double-click the C:\drive
- Browse to Show hidden files and folders. To reach the option:
- Go to Tools
- Choose Folder Options
- Select View tab
- Go to Hidden files and folders
- Select Show hidden files and folders
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Browse to Show protected operating system files
- Go to Tools
- Choose Folder Options
- Select View tab
- Deselect Hide protected operating system files
- Select Show hidden files and folders

- Click OK

- Choose Rename
- Add .OLDat the end without disturbing the extension
